Quartz Composer 101 – An Introduction to Quartz Composer

Scott Baker, Swinburne University of Technology

Nov 28th – 10:00-13:00 – S02 3.06 (Computer Lab)

Quartz Composer is a node-based visual programming language provided as part of the Xcode development environment in Mac OS X for processing and rendering graphical data.

Quartz Composer uses OpenGL (including GLSL), OpenCL, Core Image, Core Video, JavaScript, and other technologies to build an API and a developer tool around a simple visual programming paradigm. Apple has embedded Quartz technologies deeply into the operating system.

This workshop will introduce you to how Quartz Composer works and how to use Apple’s developer tools to write your own quartz composer programs.

Logic Pro Hands-On

Matt Hitchcock, Griffith University Conservatorium of Music

Nov 28th – 10:00-13:00 – Conservatorium of Music

Logic Studio is described as “everything to every musician”. It is a complete set of professional applications that lets one write, record, edit, mix, and perform. It’s also the largest collection of modelled instruments, sampler instruments, effect plug-ins, and audio loops ever put in a single box. So it’s easy to get amazing sounds and amazing-sounding recordings. Now you can tackle any stage of your project yourself without losing your inspiration along the way.

Matt Hitchcock is the head of Music Technology and Senior Lecturer at the Con.
