iPad 2 Seeding Equipment

The AUC has added 5 iPad 2’s to our seeding equipment pool for short-term loan for use in evaluation, testing and development. These iPads are Wi-Fi + 3G however you need to provide your own micro-SIM (3FF) to be able to use the 3G data network.

Each iPad also includes a number of demonstration media files including Apps, Movies, Music, Podcasts and Books. If you sync the iPad with your local machine these demo files will be deleted and you can install your own. See the Seeding Equipment page for more information.


Ruby for Mac OS X

The AUC is pleased to announce it is offering a limited number of partially funded places to each of the AUC Ruby for Mac OS X Workshop to be held in Sydney on the 11-12 July 2011 and Melbourne on 23-24 July 2011.

The workshop is aimed specifically at students who study computing science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics and/or have an interest in developing applications in the Ruby programming language on Mac OS X. Staff from member Universities are also welcome to attend. It is expected that those who attend will have experience in a modern Object Oriented program language such as Python, C++ or Objective C. No prior Ruby experience is assumed.


iPad in Tertiary Education Seminars

Not long after the release of the iPad just over a year ago, Dr Tara Brabazon (Professor of Media Studies, University of Brighton) told us that “…for academics, the (iPad) platform enhances daily teaching and research. In an age when universities’ core functions are under threat, the gadget offers a vision disconnected from the crumbling teaching and learning experiences in our libraries and classrooms.”

iOS SDK Workshops

We’re pleased to announce we’re offering up to 120 partially funded places at four iOS SDK workshops to be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Perth during April 2011.
